Sam Tomkins joined the New Zealand Warriors this season after they paid a big transfer fee for the young Englishmen some in England claimed to be one of the very best players in the world. I reviewed Tomkins form earlier in the season and now that we are at the halfway point of the season…
As part of redevelopment plans ANZ will be rolling out a series of statues to stand outside the stadium that represent great moments in the stadiums history. One suggestion put forward is that Paul Gallen should be immortalised in this way for leading New South Wales to it’s first State Of Origin victory since 2005….
Queensland were gracious in defeat, New South Wales were respectful in victory. That was one of the main talking points coming out of State Of Origin two. Don’t tell that to former Queensland player Greg Dowling though.. Dowling has launched a full on attack aimed squarely at anything any everything New South Wales, admitting he…
Andrew Proszenko has an interesting article in the Sydney Morning Herald today that suggests that South Sydney may be willing to give halfback Adam Reynolds an early release from his contract after signing QLD Cup player Cody Walker. It would be a huge call on South Sydney’s behalf but it is clear the club is…
We all remember the famous “Thats In Queensland” song that took the piss out of all of the players the Queensland Rugby League team selected from different parts of the world. Now the bloke that put that tune together has come up with a new one. An apology to Queensland! Check it out:
Round 16 saw a battering for the Vikings, revenge for the Warriors and an important win for the Wakefield Wildcats. Leeds Rhinos vs Huddersfield Giants This week’s Thursday night game was at Headingley stadium, where 6th place took on 2nd place. Huddersfield Giants survived a last-minute scare, as a Leeds try was disallowed and this…

BREAKING: Moley hearing Mick Jennings of @sydneyroosters may not play again this YEAR — The Mole (@RLW_Mole) June 19, 2014 For all those asking about @M_Jennings_03 , he has a…
Greg Inglis has been very quiet by his standards in the 2014 State Of Origin series. A lack of opportunities and very good defense by New South Wales have seen Inglis have very little impact on the first two games. In the past Billy Slater has looked untouchable in the fullback role for Queensland and Australia….
Game two of the 2014 State Of Origin series is officially the highest rated State Of Origin game of all time. The game was watched by 2.682 million across across capital cities according to OzTAM ratings. This beat the 2.626 million that watched the third game of the 2012 State Of Origin series. OzTAM ratings…
New South Wales have won the 2014 State Of Origin series, and now it is time to look at the always controversial player ratings. Other places hand out player ratings so freely, they don’t make players earn them. Lets face it, last nights match wasn’t the best game of State Of Origin we have ever…
New South Wales has secured their first State Of Origin series win since 2005 with a 6-4 win over Queensland at ANZ Stadium. This was one of the weirdest State Of Origin games I have ever seen. Both teams looked gun shy for 70 minutes. There wasn’t much attacking football to speak of, neither side…
We were in this position last year. New South Wales had won game one of the 2013 State Of Origin series in emphatic fashion and heading into game two of the series Blues supporters were full of confidence. In game two Queensland destroyed New South Wales. The 26-6 scoreline doesn’t begin to explain how the…

As we head into State Of Origin 101 Queensland is looking to square the series and head back to Brisbane looking to retain the Origin shield. What better occasion to select my ultimate Queensland Maroons State Of Origin lineup! Anybody that has played State Of Origin football for Queensland is eligible. All players are selected…
Earlier today, multiple sourced confirmed what most have already known for some time. A two year deal for Michael Ennis to join the Sharks, a deal which will see him finish his career in the Shire. As usual with signings, opinion has been split, although the majority of Sharks fans seem to agree that Ennis’s…
After being under an injury cloud for the last ten days and rarely training with the team, Daly Cherry-Evans looks almost certain to play in tonight’s second State Of Origin game. Cherry-Evans looked no hope earlier this week as Brisbane Broncos halfback trained with the Maroons. Mal Meninga has given Cherry-Evans all the time he…
Canterbury Bulldogs captain Michael Ennis will join the Cronulla Sharks next season on a two year deal. The Sharks will be Ennis’ 5th first grade club over the course of his career. Ennis started the 2014 season off slowly but his form has improved over the couple of months. He will bring a lot of…
On the even of State Of Origin 101 I have taken it upon myself to select the greatest New South Wales State Of Origin team of all time. Anybody that has played State Of Origin football for New South Wales is eligible. All players are selected in career best form. This team was selected to…
Underdogs. They have won 8 straight series in a row and yet here we are and the bloody Queenslanders are once again underdogs to win a State Of Origin game. Yes they are carrying a few injuries. Sure they are playing in New South Wales. Still, I feel like we have been here before. It…
New South Wales forward Greg Bird has called Queensland centre Brent Tate a hypocrite over comments the Maroons star made after State Of Origin one. Bird referred to a famous incident a few years ago in which Bird, as he was being held down by another player, was then punched in the face by Tate….
While Jarryd Hayne does have plans tomorrow, NFL star Reggie Bush believes Hayne could play in the NFL tomorrow after seeing some of the Parramatta Eels fullbacks highlights. Having follow the NFL for most of my life I have no doubt that the difference between athletes in the NFL and those in the NRL is…
An Auckland Tourism, Events And Economic Development report has revealed that the 2014 Auckland 9’s pumped over $9 million into the cities local economy. Over 68,000 attended the two day event held at Eden Park with estimates that over 16,000 were New Zealanders traveling into Auckland to attend and another 6,000 making the trip from…
It seems that each and every year, an NRL side is decimated during the Origin period, and loses the momentum they had built over the opening ten or so rounds. Usually it is the Melbourne Storm, Brisbane Broncos or Sydney Roosters, however this year, the boys from Belmore are the ones most affected. The table…
If there is one thing I love writing about, it is referees… Paul Gallen and Greg Bird have called for a return to one referee for State Of Origin football. They believe one referee, one voice, would help ease confusion over decisions and make it easier for players who have to deal with just one…
Wayne Bennett has told News Limited that he is unsure of his future beyond this season as the Knights ownership saga drags on. Bennett has said he wants to see what happens with the change of ownership at the Newcastle Knights before he makes a decision but he intends to be coaching somewhere next season….
The hopes of Queensland supporters took a blow today when halfback Daly Cherry-Evans failed to train with his Queensland team mates today. Cherry-Evans had targeted today as his deadline to be fit, and with Ben Hunt training in his place, things aren’t looking good for the Maroons halfback. Of course Laurie Daley has been telling…
There has been a lot written about Jarryd Hayne this week as we get closer to State Of Origin two. While there were some questions about his fitness leading into the game this incredible field goal kick should put those concerns to bed: Pretty incredible, and there are no special effects there at all!
Last night I posted an article about Lee Mossop and his ridiculous comments to BBC Radio where he said that Super League is physically tougher than the NRL. He made these comments after playing just 32 minutes so far during the 2014 NRL season. People that follow me on Twitter and Facebook went off on…
On Saturday night during the Sydney Roosters vs Newcastle Knights match, Fox Sports offered viewers the option to press the red button on their remote control and take in a different match commentary provided by Nathan Hindmarsh and Bryan Fletcher. So, how to Hindy and Fletch go? Well, it was different! Both called players by…
Parramatta Eels English forward Lee Mossop may have spend most of the season on the sidelines, but he has told the BBC that Super League is more physical than the NRL. Mossop, who made the move from Wigan to the Parramatta Eels at the end of last year, played his first game of his NRL…
