St Helens will take on the Leeds Rhinos in this weekends Super League Grand Final. I’ll be watching the game, but to be honest it just hasn’t grabbed me this year. Maybe its because the same two teams played in last years decider, maybe its because these two teams are not really traditional rivals. Maybe…
South Sydney are doing a good job to try and push the game and their brand into new markets. With last years game against the Leeds Rhinos in the United States already under their belts, the Rabbitohs are now going to play one of their regular season games in Perth in Western Australia. It shows…
The Sydney Roosters have announced today that they will no longer field under 16’s or under 18’s teams in a move they have claimed is aimed at cutting costs. The Roosters have claimed that they will still offer selected junior players scholarships and will recruit players from other clubs at an older age. This is…
Brett White has not be charged by the NRL judiciary over a forearm to the head of Sharks prop Ben Ross on the weekend. The media talked up the two players clashing all week, and as soon as Ross looked to be in trouble after the White charge, you knew the media would try and…
Melbourne has stood up on the big occasion and stamp their authority with a dominating 22-0 win over the Cronulla Sharks. The win puts Melbourne through to their third straight Grand Final and they will face off against the winner of tomorrow nights match between the Manly Sea Eagles and New Zealand Warriors. The Sharks…
The Manly Sea Eagles have soundly beaten the New Zealand Warriors 32-6 to book their place in their second straight Grand Final. You could see Manly were clicking right from the kickoff while the New Zealand Warriors looked a little shaky. The Warriors combination’s just didn’t gel and as I in my match preview, I…
Wayne Bennett has his first meeting with St George/Illawarra officials today in what is effectively his first day on the job as the clubs new coach. Bennett has spent over 20 years coaching the Broncos. During that time he coaches a club with amazing resources, in a city that had no other Rugby League team….
He is lonely, he feels isolated, he feels homesick, he feels treated badly by his club, and now someone that is part of the Sonny Bill Williams “camp” has put feelers out to the Bulldogs on a possible return. This was always bound to happen at some point. As his merry band of idiots rushed him…
So many announcements from someone that plays so little football. If you haven’t been following the Paul Sculthorpe saga, then well done, you have been missing a lot of hot air and bullshit. Paul Sculthorpe has played less top grade football over the last few years than even I have….and I haven’t played any! While…
The Melbourne Storms 16-14 win over the Brisbane Broncos is one of the most amazing games I have ever seen in my life. Both teams started off nervous, which was very unusual for these two big match teams, but it was the Broncos who stole an early try and put the pressure right on the…
In from of a packed house of just under 26,000 the New Zealand Warriors dominated the Sydney Roosters to record an amazing 30-13 win. The game pretty much went as I expected, the Warriors started strong, the Roosters fought back and looked very good for about 20 minutes, and then halfback came and went and…
I know, I know, its a day late, but Australia did beat Fiji 52-0 to advance to the World Cup Final on Sunday night. Fiji did their best but Australia is just way to good. It looked early on though that the scoreline could have pushed 80-100 but the Fijians managed to hold out Australia…
By now you have probably heard the news that on a night out, three Brisbane Broncos players, alleged to be Karmichael Hunt, Sam Thaiday and Darius Boyd, were in the mens toilets in a pub three waying a girl who has claimed assault against the three players. Its been alleged that everything was fine and…
Just a few weeks ago the Melbourne Storm were a lock to win their second straight Premiership. Now, as the team heads up to Brisbane with its season on the line, the Storm face the toughest test in their reign as the best team in the NRL. In the loss to the Warriors the Storm…
Wow, talk about an upset! The New Zealand Warriors beat Melbourne 18-15 in Melbourne, and I said to our good friends over at Sports Freak during the week, if the Warriors win, I give up. Well, I lied, but that’s ok because everyone thought the Storm were going to win the game and carry on to the…
Once again it was a contender versus a pretender, and Manly did it easily. The 38-6 win gives Manly a week off which I’m sure they will welcome, and see’s St George/Illawarra bundled out of the finals in a most embarrassing way. Manly really look the goods right now, and if it wasn’t for the…
You know, I’m one of these people that is willing to write off the Cronulla Sharks because they are the Cronulla Sharks and god just just not want them to win anything. However I have to say, they are playing bloody well at the moment! I pretty much expect the Sharks to be on another…
News that Wakefields plans for a new stadium have been scrapped means the club now finds itself without a suitable stadium to use for the future. The RFL has already told the Wildcats that they will be kicked out of Super League the next time their license comes up for renewal because their current ground…
Wow, what a game of Rugby League! The Brisbane Broncos beat the Sydney Roosters 24-16 in a brutal encounter at the Sydney Football Stadium. The game saw two Broncos forwards knocked senseless and Roosters hooker Riley Brown brake his arm in two places, and that brutality just did not let up for the full 80…
Greg Inglis has re-signed with the Melbourne Storm through to the end of the 2012 season in a massive boost for the club and the code in general. Inglis form has been outstanding this season and at just 21 years of age, Inglis is already one of the games superstars. The deal is worth a…
So Super League has finished its latest expansion and we now have a Welsh team in the competition which is great. However already eyes are turning towards a few years from now when all current clubs Super League licenses will come up for review. That means teams with below standard stadiums, poor finances and poor…
Well 2008 turned out to be another stinker for the Penrith Panthers. The season started off with a flogging by the Brisbane Broncos and never looked to get any better. Some pointed to an improvement on last years Wooden Spoon season, but the fact is that if the Bulldogs, Rabbitohs and Cowboys hadn’t fallen in…
I knew the Sydney Roosters match up with the St George/Illawarra Tampons was going to be a dud game and boy did it live up to my prediction. The first half was probably the worst half of football I’ve ever seen. Sure, it was pissing rain, but the dropped ball, the simple mistakes and the…
Its been known for years that the Huddersfield Giant have issues in regards to their standing in the game. Basically the Giants are a little, poorly rub club, playing out of a shit town who only reason for existence is that the game was founded in a pub there in 1895. Huddersfield have pissed and…
Manly belted the Gold Coast Titans on Monday Night Football and it was a bit of a firey clash. With their season long over, and having been well beaten, you’d think the Titans would just head back up to the Gold Coast and look towards the last game of the season, which incidently means nothing…
We all know I’m the first to bag Super League when I think its needed, but when it comes to expansion Super League officials obviously have a goal and are doing everything possible to achieve those goals. The first signs of this push to expand Super League came when Welsh outfit the Celtic Crusaders were…
St Helens have defeated Hull FC 28-16 in the 2008 Challenge Cup Final. If you went to cook two minute noodles as the game kicked off, the microwave bell had yet to sound and Paul Sculthorpe went from the field injured. Going into this game Sculthorpe amazingly wrote in his newspaper colum that HE has…
Greg Bird is alleged to have smashed his girlfriend in the face with a glass, fracturing her eye socket and leading to an eye injury that could see he lose sight in her eye. After allegedly doing this to his girlfriend, he then started to cover his arse, calling a mate and asking him to…
Well the Queensland conspiracy theorists are out in force once again, and this time they are targeting one of their own. With three of the strongest clubs in the game and three straight Origin series under their belts, its getting hard these days for the old Queensland brigade to suggest that those rotten NSW people…
Let me tell you something from your Glorious King Of All That Is Good. People that make huge boasts and then don’t back it up, they have a small penis. Ohh….. Anyway, news that Huddersfield was going to make “The biggest announcement in the modern day history of the club” was met with rolled eyes…
