Cronulla Sharks captain Paul Gallen could miss the rest of the season with scans this week to determine the extent of a bicep injury he picked up in the Sharks 31-18 loss at home to the Newcastle Knights.
Bicep injuries tend to be one of those rotten injuries that are never have a good outcome. It is rare that a player injures their bicep and doesn’t spend an extended period of time on the sidelines.
It is the last thing the Sharks need (I feel like I say that a lot about the poor old Sharks) as they look to avoid the wooden spoon in what is about the worst season any club could ever hope to have.
In other Sharks news, Fairfax is reporting that the Sharks are considering Laurie Daley to coach the side for the rest of the season.
I think it would be a ridiculous decision for Daley, or any other coach for that matter, to even consider taking over the Sharks for the rest of the season. It is a no win situation that could turn very bad very quickly and really hurt a coaches reputation.
Shane Flanagan will be taking back his head coaching role at the club next season so it isn’t even as though there is an opportunity to cement a place at the club for any length of time.
Current interim coach James Shepherd seems happy enough to do the job. The Sharks should stick with him.
