NSW State of Origin captain Paul Gallen received criticism from Phil Gould and everything would be great if the criticism hasn’t been on a personal level says Cronulla coach Shane Flanagan. Microgaming Tribune reported this first where Cronulla was reported to believe that Paul Gallen, the Blues skipper, deserves a game three farewell. This criticism…
News Limited is reporting that Paul Gallen is upset at what he called “disrespectful” Sharks supporters in the wake of news that he will be on the sidelines for a month with a knee injury. Gallen said the he was hurt that Sharks supporters would question his loyalty to the club after some of them…
Cronulla Sharks captain Paul Gallen could miss the rest of the season with scans this week to determine the extent of a bicep injury he picked up in the Sharks 31-18 loss at home to the Newcastle Knights. Bicep injuries tend to be one of those rotten injuries that are never have a good outcome….
As we approach State of Origin Three, which in terms of the series doesn’t really matter, players seem to be putting their club futures at risk. Josh Morris has taken extraordinary measures to be fit for Origin Three after suffering a potentially season altering injury in the first game of the series. Luke Lewis will…
Yesterday reports surfaced that a possible bronze statue of Paul Gallen will be created for the new ANZ Stadium precinct after he captained NSW to a doubt breaking Origin victory. Let me just say I am 100% behind the idea of immortalising the NSW and Sharks captain, but I’d place the statue outside Remondis Stadium….
In an incredible moment of honesty, Cronulla Sharks captain Paul Gallen has said that Sharks players have not put 100% into this season because they don’t believe the coach has put in 100% himself. “I don’t think players have been putting in 100 per cent because they are under the impression that Sharpie isn’t putting…
As part of redevelopment plans ANZ will be rolling out a series of statues to stand outside the stadium that represent great moments in the stadiums history. One suggestion put forward is that Paul Gallen should be immortalised in this way for leading New South Wales to it’s first State Of Origin victory since 2005….
New South Wales has secured their first State Of Origin series win since 2005 with a 6-4 win over Queensland at ANZ Stadium. This was one of the weirdest State Of Origin games I have ever seen. Both teams looked gun shy for 70 minutes. There wasn’t much attacking football to speak of, neither side…
If there is one thing I love writing about, it is referees… Paul Gallen and Greg Bird have called for a return to one referee for State Of Origin football. They believe one referee, one voice, would help ease confusion over decisions and make it easier for players who have to deal with just one…
Wally Lewis has launched an extraordinary attack on Paul Gallen and New South Wales, claiming Gallen should be embarrassed for losing 8 straight series and that New South Wales will never “get” State Of Origin football. Gallen, who is hated in Queensland, made a joke last week about the two headed supporters of Queensland. That…
Mixed reactions have greeted reports that incumbent NSW halfback Mitchell Pearce will not be picked for game one of this year’s series. Some say that Pearce’s likely overlooking for the series opener is the final nail in the blues origin coffin, whilst some are saying it is a blessing in disguise. No one has born…
Each and every week until the finals I will present the totally unofficial LeagueFreak.com power rankings. Just a quick explanation, these are not based on who the better team is, or who would win if they played each other etc, it’s more a who would be happier with where they are, form, judgement type of…
With the 2014 season about to begin the supporters of 16 National Rugby League clubs have hearts filled with hope and minds filled with dreams. Right now, anyone can win the Grand Final. Daniel Lane of the Sydney Morning Herald is reporting that Paul Gallen will make his boxing debut on the 19th of February, just weeks before the Cronulla Sharks season kickoff against the Gold Coast Titans on the 10th of March. It is a very strange decision by Gallen to take part in the bout just…
Claiming to be the best Rugby League playing nation in the world means very little if you don’t hold the World Cup in your possession. Australia heads into the 2013 Rugby League World Cup looking to win back a trophy they held for decades. The once dominant Kangaroo’s now have an unfortunate reputation for dominating…
Twitter is great because it is so easy to use. It allows people to broadcasts the first thing that pops into their head quickly and easily. Sometimes that can cause you problems. If you are not careful you can Tweet things you will later regret. I personally have a policy where I do not delete…
A war of words between Paul Gallen, Brian Smith, Rugby League supporters and Paul Gallens Dad has punctuated the aftermath of the Cronulla Sharks 32-22 win over the Sydney Roosters on Monday night. Top players in Rugby League are always going to face criticism on social media but it is rare that players have to…

Paul Gallen has broken ranks and gained his own legal representation according to the Daily Telegraph. There is talk that Gallen believes he will be a major target of the ASADA investigators if only for the fact that he would be the biggest scalp for them to claim. I said from day one that players…

When Paul Gallen put a combination on Nate Myles chin in State Of Origin one, it was a major talking point in the game. It didn’t matter what else happened in the contest, the way Gallen went after Myles was a moment every single person that watched the game wanted to talk about. The reaction…
Paul Gallen has been a fantastic leader for the Cronulla Sharks. At times he has taken opposition teams on single handedly up front, hitting the ball up without fear, making a million tackles, he has simply never let the Sharks down. At State Of Origin level it has been more of the same. Even as…
Queensland has blown New South Wales off the park in a dominant, devastating display to win State Of Origin 2 by a scoreline of 26-6. The Maroons ran out on the field breathing fire and the Blues simply were not prepared for the onslaught of what can only be described as perfect football. The Queensland…
It feels like a long time ago that New South Wales won game one of the 2013 State Of Origin series in Sydney. Unfortunately it didn’t take too long for the Blues to go from being on a high from winning the opening game to having to deal with one crisis after another. With Jarryd Hayne’s…
