The New Orleans Pelicans have taken Zion Williamson from Duke with the number one pick in the 2019 NBA Draft.
The 6 ft 7 in forward was a consensus first round pick going into the draft and his highlight reel shows why.
It will be interesting to see how the Pelicans use Williamson. There has been a suggestion that he will start his NBA center but his skill and vision on the court are almost certain to see him become a point forward.
At 285 lb his size will mean he won’t have any problems on the inside. He is the same height as a Draymond Green but over 50 lbs heavier.
The comparisons have been made to Lebron James but Williamson is a very different sort of athlete and much more of a forward where as Lebron James was thought of more as a point guard coming into the NBA.
One thing is for certain, the New Orleans Pelicans will be a much watch team on NBA League pass next season. Williamson will be a highlight to watch for many years to come.
