Well its that time of the year again when the Poms get together and star showing the world how little they know about Rugby League.
After a great season in which he was head and shoulders above his team mates and any other player in the Super League competition, Trent Barrett has NOT won the Man Of Steel award, with it instead going to James Roby of St Helens.
While Barrett has starred for Wigan and been the deference between them being a nothing side and getting within on game of the Grand Final, Roby isn’t even a regular starter for St Helens.
The mickey mouse award winners were:
Man of Steel: James Roby (St Helens)
Rugby League Players’ Association/GMB player: Trent Barrett (Wigan)
Young player: Sam Burgess (Bradford)
Coach: Daniel Anderson (St Helens)
Super League top tryscorer: Henry Fa’afili (Warrington)
Top metre-maker: James Roby (St Helens, 3,303)
Top tackler: Ben Fisher (Hull KR, 841)
Referee of the year: Steve Ganson
Keep in mind these are the same people that handed Andrew Farrell a Golden Boot Award. Their credibility and knowledge of the game is non existent.
