ARLC Chairman John Grant has blocked any hopes John Hopoate has of coaching the Manly Sea Eagles SG Ball team any time soon.
Hopoate’s legal team has threatened to take the matter to court arguing that it is the NSWRL that has juristiction over the SG Ball competition and not the NRL. They asked the NRL to allow Hopoate to coach the SG Ball team while the courts decided who had the legal right to ban him from coaching. The NRL wasn’t having any of that.
So far no legal action has been taken.
Hopoate was banned from coaching Manly’s SG Ball team after concerns were raised by certain sections of the community due to Hopoate’s past. The SG Ball competition is an under 18’s competition.
