Whether it be the trashy stories, the hyperbolic crisis stories, or the skewed views they put on the game that don’t really line up with reality, the mainstream NRL media has a pretty poor reputation amongst supporters.
As the NRL administration, clubs and even players move further away every day from needing to rely on the print media to get messages out to supporters, the media seems to be getting more desperate with the tactics it uses to try and get attention and the all important hits they need.
That might be fair in some cases, but more and more when you read articles that are posted you get to the end of them and think to yourself “Is that it?”.
The best example of the desperation in the media right now is the way they report their own comments as a headline. One journalist says something outrageous about the game and that is apparently good enough for a headline. It was brilliantly parodied by Andrew Ferguson on his blog today.
With that in mind, I want to know what you think…
