It’s Time To Go…..Benji Marshall

Benji Marshall is one of my favourite Rugby League players.

I’m not a Wests Tigers fan but over the years I have watched nearly every game Marshall has played. His combination of incredible footwork and skill is something you rarely see from a playmaker.

Marshall has been the best player on the field in so many big games. I’ll never forget the way he destroyed Australia in the 2010 Four Nations Final. It was the moment that I believe Benji Marshall stamped himself as one of the great of the game.

There have been so many games over the years that Marshall forced the Tigers to win. Games they had no right to win too. Marshall would tear opposition teams apart, they simply could not stop him.

That is not the Benji Marshall we are seeing right now…

Marshall has moved on mentally, you can see that. He is going through the motions and looks disinterested.

The way Marshall is playing is effecting his team mates. The Wests Tigers look like a team that is winding things up every single week. Marshall has been such a big personality at the club for so long, he is a leader, so it’s only normal that his struggles are rubbing off on his team mates.

It is time for the Wests Tigers and Benji Marshall to part ways.

The Wests Tigers need to hand the team over to their youngsters. Marshall needs to get his head together and look towards his future.

It is a really sad situation. Benji Marshall’s great Rugby League career is ending with a whimper. Michael Potter is the only person that can change what is happening right now. It is time for the Wests Tigers to drop Benji Marshall and look towards their own future.

  1. Totally agree. Not only has he disrespected his fans and his club with the whole Rugby Union jersey fiasco, but he doesn’t look like he wants to be there. I was at the Eels v Tigers game last week and I was watching marshall get the ball, jog a couple of steps then pass it off on almost every play, and putting in literally zero effort towards directing the team around the park.

He needs to go, for the good of the Tigers.
