Its Just Not Fair I Tell You!

Darren Lockyer is upset.

Darren Lockyer doesn’t like whats going on.

Darren Lockyer wants things changed.

Darren Lockyer is emo!

The Sydney Telegraph is reporting today that Darren Lockyer Thinks The Dragons Deal For Mark Gasnier is unfair.

He doesn’t like the fact that the Dragons are looking to sign Gasnier for around $50,000 for the remainder of the 2010 season and Lockyer feels as though Gasnier should only be allowed to sign for a club that can offer him a market value contract.

I know, I know, my lip is quivering for Darren Lockyer as well…

Lets forget all about the deals the Brisbane Broncos have done over the years, you know, like signing players contracted to the St George Dragons back in the day and getting one of them to sit out the final season of his contract in a big huff.

Lets forget all about Super League and where that all started. Lets also forget about the utter fucking miracle that has been the Brisbane Broncos salary cap for the previous 20 years or so.

Lets not even mention that!

If Mark Gasnier signs a contract for half the 2010 season for $50,000, thats a pretty good deal for the Dragons, no doubt about that.

In 2011 however the Dragons are hoping to be able to bump his contract to up over $400,000. In 2012, they want to go even further, spending over $500,000 on Gasnier.

So in 2012, when Gasnier is in his 30’s and is earning more money than 97% of Rugby League players in Australia…..is that still unfair Mr Lockyer?

I know I’d hate to make any moves that upset Darren Lockyer!

He called on David Gallop to end this farce of having Mark Gasnier play for the minimum wage. Of course, it was fine when Tonie Carroll did the same thing decently for Brisbane, I didn’t see Darren Lockyer slamming any fists against the NRL CEO’s desk back then!

I hate the Dragons and I’m a big fan of Darren Lockyer, but you know, sometimes you have to call a spade a spade.

Darren, shut the fuck up.
