Canterbury Bulldogs fullback Ben Barba has been charged by the NRL Match Review Committee with Grade 1 Dangerous Contact – Unnecessary Use of Knees.
Barba will avoid suspension if he decides to take the early guilty please. If he chooses to fight the charge and loses, he would face a one match suspension.
Barba was charged after making late contact with Jamie Soward after Soward had scored a try. The incident led to a rare 8 point try being awarded by the video referee.
It looked bad at the time and I tend to think Barba will simply take the early guilty plea. That will allow him to play against the North Queensland Cowboys on Saturday night up in Townsville.
