Beau Ryan has announced his immediate retirement from Rugby League due to a neck injury.
Ryan has been trying to play through the injury for a long while now but this season in particular it has become clear that any time he received contact in a tackle the injury was troubling him.
Ryan had a pretty good career for a player with his ability. He looked for work and did his best. In his last season at the Wests Tigers in particular I felt that he was the best performer on that team over the course of what was a pretty poor year by the club.
Ryan has done well to forge a career off the field with Channel 9’s The Footy Show and hopefully he can develop his media career as other former players have over the years.
Good luck to Beau Ryan, I’m sure we will now see a lot more of him on our TV screens.
