The GIO Schoolboy Cup is now in its 39th year and is the premier competition in Schoolboy Rugby League.
The Cup is an incredibly successful competition that has produced some outstanding young footballers and some of the NRL’s greatest players including Peter Sterling, Darren Lockyer, Andrew Ettinghausen, Brad Fittler, Andew Johns and more. It is a recognised platform for aspiring rugby league players and continues to grow in strength with support from the NRL, schools involved and media. The competition is played across Australia and in 2013, a staggering 450 schools participated, with selected games on FOX Sports.
The Patrician Brothers Blacktown school are the reigning Cup champions but with the competition getting harder and harder every year, defending their title won’t be easy. GIO is very excited to gear up for the 2014 GIO Schoolboy Cup. Only time will tell what happens this season so……BLOW THE WHISTLE!!!
