Tickets have now gone on sale to the general public for the 2013 Test match between Australia and New Zealand to be held on April 19th at Canberra Stadium.
This match will be important to both teams as it is really their last good hit out before the 2013 World Cup kicks off at the end of the year.
I think we will probably see both sides look to test out a few fringe test players in this game while also looking to solidify some more established combinations.
The Kiwi’s in particular will have some interesting decisions to make. Benji Marshall will no doubt be selected but it will be interesting to see who out of Shaun Johnson or Kieran Foran ends up partnering him in the halves.
There will also be the big decision about whether to give Sonny Bill Williams a run in this game.
If he is injury free I think they will select him, mostly for marketing purposes. I don’t expact Williams to play in the 2013 World Cup, I think he will be long gone and playing Rugby Union somewhere by the time the tournament kicks off.
The Australian side even this far out seems like it will be pretty straight forward baring injury, but I do wonder if Greg Inglis can push Billy Slater out of the fullback position. I think the biggest issue Australia has is in the depth of their forward pack. We have some great starters but the level of talent available falls away from there. I think that is the key area New Zealand have it over Australia.
