League Freaks 2014 State Of Origin Two Player Ratings

New South Wales have won the 2014 State Of Origin series, and now it is time to look at the always controversial player ratings.

Other places hand out player ratings so freely, they don’t make players earn them.

Lets face it, last nights match wasn’t the best game of State Of Origin we have ever seen. Neither team played well. Many players had their worst Origin games ever. So if you have come here looking for everyone to get rated 10 out of 10, you’ve come to the wrong place!

NSW State Of Origin Team – Game Two
1. Jarryd Hayne – 6
Didn’t get too many chances. Played well in defense though.

2. Will Hopoate – 5
Suffered a shoulder injury but played on. He will be better for this run at Origin level. He is still getting back into footy shape really.

3. Michael Jennings – 7
Everything he did was quality. Didn’t see much ball but when he did he got the Maroons worried. Was very good in defense.

4. Josh Dugan – 6
Did a solid defensive job on Greg Inglis but didn’t see any ball at all in attack.

5. Daniel Tupou – 6
Played well, ran without fear. He broke his nose in the second half and didn’t miss a beat.

6. Josh Reynolds – 5
Got through a lot of work but in attack he was pretty average.

7. Trent Hodkinson – 6
His kicking game was solid but he didn’t take over the game until the last couple of minutes. Should have been doing that a lot earlier.

8. Paul Gallen – 8
Worked his arse off in attack and defense. Was named man of the match. It was a great moment for Gallen’s career last night.

9. Robbie Farah – 6
Made some really dumb plays in the second half. A player of his experience should have played better.

10. Aaron Woods – 5
A tough game like this were both forward packs are battling it out just isn’t suited to Aaron Woods type of game.

11. Beau Scott – 6
Got through a lot of work in defense but was pretty quiet in attack.

12. Ryan Hoffman – 7
Probably his best game for a number of years. Caused Queensland headaches out wide all night.

13. Greg Bird – 7
Really took it to Queensland. Ran the ball hard and he was smashing them in defense.

Interchange
14. James Tamou – 3
Coming off the bench didn’t suit him at all. Did pretty much nothing.

15. Anthony Watmough – 6
Got stuck in off the bench and provided a bit of a lift for the Blues.

16. Trent Merrin – 5
Came out and just started to grind through the defensive work. I think he is better than that.

17. Luke Lewis – 6
Caused a few problems out wide. He might end up getting a start in the third match.

QLD State Of Origin Team – Game Two
1. Billy Slater – 5
Wasn’t his type of game. He really missed Cooper Cronk.

2. Darius Boyd -4
Just didn’t see any ball at all.

3. Greg Inglis – 6
Went looking for work at times but was still far too quiet for a player of his ability. I expect him to start at fullback in game three.

4. Justin Hodges – 7
Once again played very well in the first half. Went looking for work. It wasn’t a night for the back however.

5. Brent Tate – 4
Looked for work but didn’t make an impact before blowing his knee out. Probably the end of his career.

6. Johnathan Thurston – 3
Had one of the worst games of his career. Completely lost his head towards the end of the match.

7. Daly Cherry-Evans – 2
He was injured and should not have played. Carrying Cherry-Evans really cost Queensland.

8. Matt Scott – 4
Copped a facial injury but when on the field he was alright without having a huge impact on the game.

9. Cameron Smith – 6
Ran the ball a lot early on but I would have liked to have seen him do a lot more in the second half in attack.

10. Nate Myles – 8
Once again he was outstanding. The best forward Queensland has right now.

11. Aidan Guerra – 6
Played pretty well. He has been a really good selection for Queensland in this series.

12. Matt Gillett – 6
Got through a lot of work.

13. Sam Thaiday – 7
They really missed him in game one. I think he will be even better in game three.

Interchange
14. Jacob Lillyman – 6
He was pretty good when he was on the field. Ran the ball well and gave good go forward. You might see him starting in the next game.

15. Ben Te’o – 4
A couple of big hits but that was about it really.

16. Chris McQueen – 3
Didn’t do a great deal of anything. May find this is his last State Of Origin series.

17. Dave Taylor – 3
Did a lot of work in attack when on the field but I just think he isn’t the player he once was. Won’t play State Of Origin again.

So there you have it. What do you think?
