Leigh Centurions To Coach Political Animals Vs World XIII

Leigh Centurions have offered their support to the Political Animals and a World XIII team ahead of their encounter before the Rugby League World Cup Final on Saturday 30 November.

The Championship club is making players available to coach both sides as they do battle at Leigh Sports Village. The Political Animals RLFC is a club comprising politicians of all levels and all party colours and works to promote the game to a wider political audience. The World XIII is made up of High Commission and Embassy staff as well as non-playing staff from the national sides in the UK for the World Cup.

Centurions’ Chairman John Roddy said “we’re very happy to be able to support endeavours that grow our game. The Political Animals is a fantastic way for politicians to experience rugby league and to do so at our home ground is great for us as a club. The idea of playing a World XIII is hugely appealing and I this is our way of helping all to get the most out of the match.”

Club Captain, Leeds North West MP Greg Mulholland thanked the Centurions and Leigh Sports Village saying “to be playing at a wonderful facility like Leigh Sports Village is terrific and we are grateful to all involved for enabling what will be a great day. Whilst some of us play or watch rugby league, the point of the Animals is to introduce politicians to the game and to have coaching from professional players will ensure people get the most out of their time at Leigh Sports Village before heading to Old Trafford for the World Cup Final.”

The game, which will be played under masters rules, will kick-off at 10am at the pavilion ground at Leigh Sports Village on Saturday 30 November.
