The Best Great Britain Lineup League Freak Has Ever Seen

Rugby League Fantasy Teams

Over my lifetime I have seen some terrible players turn out for Great Britain. The results speak for themselves, but people would still try to argue with me that Great Britain haven’t been all that bad. This is a team made up of the best Great Britain players I have seen play in my lifetime. One thing needs to be remembered though, this lot isn’t as good as us Aussies!

1. Kris Radlinski
A very solid defender that was rarely found out of position in defense. What he lacked in out and out attacking ability he made up for with being possibly the most reliable performer I’ve ever seen play for Great Britain.

2. Brian Carney
Makes the team simply because he looked for the ball and his work rate was a lot higher than any winger Great Britain (and Ireland) has produced that I have seen.

3. Gary Connolly
A handy center who at his best would have been discussed among the games elite centers. Ended up being a very good defender as his career towards the end of his career.

4. Jack Reed
A robust center who still has the majority of his career ahead of him. Queensland tried to recruit him despite the fact he was born in Castleford. How many British centers can say they would be considered an Origin quality performer?

5. Martin Offiah
An incredible athlete and the last players to set try scoring records that stand out as a statistical anomoly. Easily the most famous player in British Rugby League history.

6. Shaun Edwards
Won so many trophies in Great Britain and played well at international level. I’ll always remember him knocking out Bradley Clyde in 1994’s Ashes series. Clyde was never the same after that.

7. Bobby Goulding
The last British halfback that ever gave Australia any sort of problems on a regular basis.

8. Barrie McDermott
A tough, uncomprimising forward that truely did not care who the opposition was.

9. James Lowes
A strong defender who was not as fancied as other hookers of his era but who I would take select over his peers without any hesitation. Should have played many more test matches than he did.

10. Adrian Morley
A tough player with a high work rate. Knock for his big hits and terrible judiciary record. The player he became in the NRL was a completely different animal to watch we see in Super League today.

11. Sam Burgess
The majority of his career is still ahead of him but the qulity of his work is fantastic for a forward of his age. A big player with good mobility, if he can shake injury concerns he will end his career as the best forward Great Britain has produced in the last 30 years.

12. Gareth Ellis
A wide running back rower with a high work rate. I think he is over rated by some but I’d still select him ahead of other back rowers I’ve seen player for Great Britain.

13. Ellery Hanley
An amazing player that could play a number of positions at a high level. Was one of the few players to cause problems for Australia over the last 30 years.
