A terrible incident in a Sprint Car race in the United States has seen Kevin Ward Jr run over and killed by NASCAR driver Tony Stewart.
The pair had tangled earlier and it resulted in Ward wrecking. Ward then proceeded to get out of his card and walk down towards the track to confront Stewart’s card when came back around.
In a terrible moment, Ward seemed to ran down towards Stewarts car and was clipped by the right rear wheel, flinging him across the track. Kevin Ward Jr was later pounced dead at Hospital.
The entire incident was captured on video. I have posted it below.
Warning, this video is graphic:
This is a terrible incident. I feel sorry for everyone involved. Especially Kevin Ward Jr’s family and friends.
People have looked to attribute blame in this accident. When it comes down it it, it was a dark track, a dirt track, sprint cars are not easy to see out of, and they are not the best handling racing vehicles out there.
We have seen a number of incidents over the years in which drivers have got out of their cars to throw their helmets at other drivers who are still in their cars. I think this is just that awful incident where things went too far.
